Works collaboratively within the hemodialysis healthcare team to deliver safe and effective dialysis treatment for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, adhering to established policies and regulatory standards.

Responsible for the preparation and operation of hemodialysis machines while maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment.

Contributes to the commitment to quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction by actively participating in process enhancement activities.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT:
Promotes the organizational culture through adherence to values and service standards.

Ensures exceptional service to all customers, both internal and external.

Builds and sustains effective relationships through timely and clear communication.


Takes proactive measures to address and resolve customer service inquiries efficiently.


PATIENT SUPPORT:


Assists healthcare team members in delivering patient-specific education on treatment adequacy and disease processes.

Welcomes patients and checks on their well-being since their last visit. Reports any concerns or observations to the supervising nurse.

Assesses vascular access for functionality and communicates any irregularities to the supervising nurse.

Records necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight, reporting any anomalies.

Conducts vascular access evaluations prior to treatment and informs the supervising nurse of any issues.

Administers medications as permitted by state regulations.

Initiates dialysis treatment as per prescribed protocols, including blood and dialysate flow rates.

Monitors patients during treatment and addresses any issues as directed by the physician.

Documents all relevant treatment information accurately and promptly.

Ensures patient safety by conducting regular checks and reporting any significant changes to the supervising nurse.

Collects required laboratory samples and prepares them for testing.

MAINTENANCE AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
Maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with facility policies.

Conducts necessary cleaning and disinfection of equipment and treatment areas between patient sessions.

Performs required pre-treatment checks on dialysis machines and ensures compliance with safety protocols.

ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS:
Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities and documents involvement.

Accurately enters treatment data into the clinical system in a timely manner.


Reviews documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all entries are correct.

Prepares patient charts for admission and organizes necessary paperwork.

Handles laboratory requisitions and ensures proper specimen collection and storage.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The role involves physical activities typical of a healthcare setting, including lifting and moving patients.
