Job Overview

Dietz & Watson Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Northeast Philadelphia. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting and testing company vehicles, diagnosing and repairing truck engine and emission systems, and performing minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test company vehicles, company box trucks, and company tractor trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair truck engine and emission systems.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers.
  • Comply with state vehicle and DOT vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation, and oil changes.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock and placing orders for necessary parts.
  • Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.

Requirements

  • Experience or formal training diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel tractors.
  • Either possess a CDL or the ability to acquire the license with the assistance of our trainer.
  • Possess hand tools.
  • Possess flexibility to work overtime and Saturdays.
  • CDL B /PA state inspection license is a plus.
  • Ability to lift to 150 pounds with reasonable accommodation.
  • ASE Diesel Certification an asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Capability to stand in one place for 80% of the shift (8+ hours per day).
  • Capability to walk throughout department for 20% of the shift (8+ hours per day).
  • Capability to lift to 100 lbs. on a frequent basis with reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires the frequent use of both hands and arms.
  • Capability to bend, twist, and squat as needed throughout the shift (8+ hours per day).

$27 - $35 / hr
