Job Overview

The Patient Care Support Specialist, operating under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, is tasked with delivering essential support services aligned with the Nursing Care Plan and established Medical/Surgical Standards. Adherence to all protocols and procedures of Northern Arizona Healthcare Corporation is mandatory. The Specialist may engage with patients and their families across various age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Engagement
* Effectively communicates the needs and concerns of patients and their families to the healthcare team.

Assists stable patients with mobility as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Utilizes interactive methods to ensure patient safety and engagement (e.g., playing games, reading, writing).

Receives and aids in the arrangement of patient meals and snacks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.


Documentation and Reporting
* Receives handover from the Registered Nurse and/or outgoing Patient Care Support Specialist at the beginning of the shift.

Provides updates to the Registered Nurse and incoming Patient Care Support Specialist before concluding responsibilities.

Alerts the Registered Nurse to any alterations in patient behavior or condition.


Compliance and Safety
* Remains informed and adheres to state and federal regulations, as well as company policies relevant to the role.

Ensures all certifications and licenses are current and valid prior to expiration.

Completes all mandatory training and job-specific modules within the designated timeframe.

Maintains assigned areas in a clean, comfortable, and safe condition for patients and their families.

Responsible for promptly reporting any safety incidents through the designated reporting tool; participates in all safety training programs; performs duties safely; monitors the work environment for potential safety hazards and ensures compliance among colleagues.


Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or GED - Required


Certifications and Licenses
BLS (American Heart Association) - Required

Fingerprint Clearance Card application number - Required upon hire


Fingerprint Clearance Card - Required within 90 days of hire


Experience
