Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Amergis is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team for a 13-week travel assignment in Martinez, CA.

About the Assignment:
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 3x12-Hour 19:00 - 07:00
  • Years of Experience: 1+ years in labor and delivery
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Assessing signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and information from healthcare members and documenting actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
  • Planning for expected outcomes of care for those patients assigned
  • Performing interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and hospital policies and patient care outcome standards
  • Providing a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic patient environment
  • Using clinical judgment in the evaluation of activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor, including establishing priorities
  • Monitoring the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
  • Promoting interpersonal relations with patients/family/significant others, hospital healthcare coworkers, and physicians
  • Using effective communication skills with all contacts while being objective and sensitive
  • Communicating pertinent information about patient, nursing unit, and activities as appropriate
  • Monitoring vital signs for the mother and baby
  • Administering medication as ordered
  • Monitoring contractions and fetal heart rate
  • Identifying complications during labor and delivery
  • Communicating the mother's condition and needs to the physician
  • Coaching the mother during labor and delivery and providing emotional support
  • Caring for the mother after she gives birth
  • Performing other duties as assigned/necessary
Requirements:
  • Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice
  • One year of Labor and Delivery clinical experience within the last three years preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
