About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Duke Health Integrated Practice. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our healthcare team to deliver outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, ensuring that all necessary instruments and equipment are available and in good working order.
  • Instrumentation and Equipment Management: Demonstrate correct and safe instrumentation passing and assist the provider in a safe and accurate manner, maintaining a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
  • Patient Care: Assist the physician and nursing personnel during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, handling instruments and equipment, calling out equipment readings, and collecting and labeling specimens while maintaining infection control standards.
  • Endoscope Cleaning and Disinfection: Manually clean endoscopes and perform the proper process to complete High Level Disinfection of these scopes, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Teaching and Training: Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists, sharing your expertise and knowledge to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians, demonstrating a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Adherence to Standards: Adhere to standards including but not limited to unit and hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals, ensuring that all procedures are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Education and Certification: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or the successful completion of the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification exam.
  • Experience: Level I- Entry level position for new graduates of Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologists with 0 to 18 months experience. Level II- Requires 6 to 12 months of full-time equivalent Surgical Technology or relevant military experience.

Work Schedule:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
