Tesla EHS Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EHS Specialist to join our team at Tesla. As an EHS Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the Fremont Factory EHS functions and contributing to the development and implementation of our EHS Management System.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the EHS and Factory Infrastructure teams to develop and implement EHS programs and initiatives that drive ownership of safety, health, and environmental impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as conformance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Analyze incident trends and use risk-assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness, and environmental impact events.
  • Facilitate incident investigations from a Learning Teams approach, ensuring that preventative actions address system causes and not just individual behaviors.
  • Assist with field work EHS-impacts oversight, participating in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before starting work.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as an Environmental, Health, or Safety professional, preferably in a manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, or similar workplace.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with lockout/tagout procedures, chemical management safety, construction safety, electrical safety, confined space, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
