Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Optical Assembly Technician to join our team at Coherent. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for supporting R&D/Engineering projects and participating in optical manufacturing assembly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support R&D/Engineering projects and participate in optical manufacturing assembly
  • Assist in the development of new processes, tools, and techniques working with the engineering team
  • Monitor and align optical components to optimize and balance all optical parameters
  • Provide feedback on the development of new processes, tools, and techniques
  • Work independently with minimal guidance from the supervisor
  • Solve problems and make correct decisions in short timeframes
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in optical alignment and assembly using fixtures, hand tools, and test equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Able to wear plastic/latex gloves or finger cots
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to visually inspect optics for cleanliness/defects using a microscope
  • Ability to clean optical components
  • Ability to manually handle, align, and install diverse optical components
Working Conditions

This position is located in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Strong hands-on skill
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal work instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds
