Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and development of Low Voltage Distribution Solutions. As a key member of our Engineering Team, you will work closely with our Production Manager to create detailed designs for switchgear components, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer UL891 Low Voltage Switchboards according to customer requirements.
  • Create detailed designs for switchgear components, including enclosures, copper bus bars, circuit breakers, and component placement.
  • Specify and select electrical components, such as circuit breakers, relays, and transformers, based on performance criteria and project requirements.
  • Interpret electrical/mechanical design drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare component manufacturing drawings for production.
  • Prepare installation manuals and arrangement drawings.
  • Provide manufacturing and assembly input.
  • Contribute to the design of product prototypes and final product designs.
  • Maintain knowledge of UL891 standards, circuit breakers, power generation/distribution systems, switchgear, low voltage equipment/insulation systems, generator paralleling, automatic source transfer, motor control, and PLC/HMI/SCADA programming.
  • Ensure designs comply with NEC, ANSI, UL, and other relevant standards.
  • Create and maintain accurate records of design changes and updates, quality control for drawings, one-lines, component layouts, wiring diagrams, BOMs, project submittals, construction drawings, and As-Builts.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to manufacturing, testing, and product support.
  • Stay informed about industry standards, regulations, and certifications related to switchgear electrical design.
Requirements
  • Over 5 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering and/or switchboard/switchgear design.
  • Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, with experience in 3D modeling and creating manufacturing drawings.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of quality control principles and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations, production, and engineering.
  • Flexibility and openness to feedback, with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and team dynamics.
  • Willingness to support team members in achieving common objectives.
