Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Distribution and Sewer Collection Operations Manager to oversee the management, supervision, and maintenance of our municipal water and sewer system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise operations and maintenance of raw water impoundments, intakes, and pumping stations, raw water transmission mains and appurtenances, water treatment plant equipment, finished water transmission mains, finished water reservoirs, finished water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection system, and sanitary sewer pumping stations.
  • Perform human resource functions, including reviewing employee evaluations, performing performance evaluations on department employees, developing and/or updating job descriptions, researching and recommending training for system operators to maintain DEP certification, and administering employment policy as set forth in the Employee Handbook and Collective Bargaining Contract.
  • Perform managerial functions, including coordinating with authority superintendent on shared insurances, investigating property and equipment insurance costs and making recommendations, reviewing and making recommendations for water distribution and sewer collection system repairs, upgrades, and replacements, and administration of authority policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of relevant experience demonstrating increasing level of responsibility.
  • Possession of a valid PA driver's license.
  • Possession of or acquisition within six (6) months, a PA DEP Water Distribution Certification, Class E, Distribution, and Possession of a PA DEP Wastewater Operators Certification E4 for Sewage Collection System Operator.
  • Ability to read and comprehend reports of engineering proposals, procurement proposals, and contract documents, including plans and specifications.
  • Sufficient knowledge to operate all water distribution and wastewater collection systems to meet or exceed state and federal regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write technical documents.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs, including CS Datum, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

The estimated salary for this position is $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
