Position Overview

Role Responsibilities

The primary function of the Respiratory Therapist is to assess, treat, and manage patients with respiratory disorders. This role encompasses a variety of critical tasks, including:

  • Operating Mechanical Ventilators: Set up and manage ventilators according to prescribed treatment parameters.
  • Emergency Care: Provide urgent interventions such as artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Treatment Planning: Determine the necessary treatment protocols, including methods, duration, and medication dosages, in alignment with physician directives.
  • Monitoring Patient Responses: Observe and evaluate patients' physiological reactions to therapies, including vital signs and blood gas levels, and consult with physicians as needed.
  • Patient Education: Instruct patients and their families on managing respiratory conditions and utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to enhance patient care.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • An Associate's Degree or equivalent.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Current registration or certification in Respiratory Therapy, in good standing.
