SUMMARY:
Preschool instructional assistants play a crucial role in providing educational and emotional support to young learners, creating a nurturing atmosphere that fosters positive relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and prior experience, whether paid or voluntary, working with children in educational settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the guidance of a certified educator, prepare for classroom activities by organizing instructional materials and resources.
Assist children in completing their assignments and projects.Ensure students comprehend classroom expectations and assist them by answering questions, providing examples, emotional support, and general guidance.
Support adherence to educational regulations and guidelines. Read to students, listen to their reading, and assess their reading skills as assigned.
Assist educators in executing lesson plans. Provide tutoring to individuals or small groups, reinforcing concepts as directed by the teacher. Aid with personal care needs of students (e.g., hygiene, toileting, etc.). Help students with mobility and access to learning materials. Supervise students throughout the educational environment and during outdoor activities.Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and engaging learning space; monitor student behavior and any changes in behavior, assist in implementing and tracking behavioral plans. Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment; participate in daily activities and training sessions. Properly dispose of waste and maintain hygiene standards for students and staff; follow oral and written instructions; engage in professional development opportunities related to the role; demonstrate initiative when working with children or using educational materials; maintain effective, cooperative relationships with colleagues and others; uphold confidentiality of student information; adhere to schedules and deadlines; perform additional duties as assigned by administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, stand, lift and carry (up to 50 pounds), reach, squat, climb stairs, kneel, and see and hear throughout the classroom; may involve moving light furniture as necessary.
Participation in student restraint may be required in extreme situations.SAFETY AND HEALTH:
Knowledge of universal hygiene practices is essential.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS HANDLED:
Must be proficient in operating or willing to learn to operate multimedia equipment and current technology.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Classroom/School setting.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
9-month employee (153 days)
Hourly Rate:
