Position Overview

POSITION TITLE: Extended Day Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION: $20.07/hr for 15 hours per week or $20.07/hr for 30 hours per week

Note: The 15-hour work week does not qualify for regular part-time status. Only Oregon's accrued sick time is applicable for this amount of hours.

FULL health and dental benefits are available only for a 30-hour work week.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a bilingual, bi-cultural professional with a strong commitment to our mission and a proven track record in nonprofit and community engagement. This role requires a proactive individual who is resourceful, outcome-oriented, and skilled in building strong relationships within the community.

Role Responsibilities

The School Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) program aims to enhance the lives of youth and their families by partnering with local schools to extend educational opportunities and support family stability. Latino Network oversees nine SUN Community Schools, providing various services such as:

  • Energy referrals
  • Food distributions
  • Academic classes
  • Art, sports, and music programs
  • Leadership opportunities and community events
  • Volunteer opportunities for youth and adults

Key Duties Include:

  • Assessing community and student needs, developing classes, and managing registration processes.
  • Collaborating with the SUN Community School Site Manager to ensure a high-quality program that promotes academic success.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for all participants.
  • Documenting participant data and ensuring timely safety monitoring.
  • Co-managing safety planning and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Supporting students requiring behavioral assistance and tracking their progress.
  • Coordinating outreach efforts to engage families and community members in SUN activities.
  • Building rapport with students, staff, and families.
  • Assisting in the management of extended day programs and volunteer supervision.
  • Overseeing homework support and mentoring for at-risk students.
  • Communicating policies and values of the organization effectively.
  • Engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Supporting food distribution initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience in education, social services, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with cross-cultural competency.
  • Experience that reflects the community served.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to create engaging promotional materials and manage data entry.
  • Familiarity with the local school community.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor under pressure.
  • Commitment to teamwork and the mission of Latino Network.

  • Availability to work in the school and community as needed.
  • Flexibility for evening and weekend hours as required.
  • Reliable transportation for program-related tasks.
  • Physical capability to lift and move materials during events.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is mandatory.
