Department Overview:
The Neuro ICU 7 DCT at Duke University Hospital consists of a state-of-the-art 35-bed unit connected to the Level 1 Trauma Center.
Our Neuro ICU has achieved Stroke Gold Plus and Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for our adherence to the latest evidence-based treatment protocols, enhancing patient care and outcomes in our community.

Work Hours & Shifts:
Full Time: 7a-7p / 7p-7a, with 12-hour rotating shifts. A straight shift option is available following orientation.
Position Summary:
As a Clinical Nurse within Duke University Health System, your primary focus will be on delivering service while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered environment.
The Clinical Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing and overseeing comprehensive nursing care responsibilities.
You will utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to achieve departmental goals.
Responsibilities include planning and delivering advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients, participating in the clinical ladder program, engaging in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health-related initiatives as assigned.
Nursing services will be provided to patients and families in accordance with the scope of practice defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting bodies is essential.
Active participation in outstanding customer service and maintaining respectful relationships is expected.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
A minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience is required for CNIIs.
A degree from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program is mandatory.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete the program within five years.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or current compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina is required.
BLS (or higher) certification is mandatory. Professional specialty certification is preferred.
