About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Education Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. As a key member of our Before and After-School Enrichment (BASE) program, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and engaging environment for elementary-age children to learn and grow.

Responsibilities
  • Implement Curriculum: Develop and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum, aligning with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA.
  • Supervise and Care for Children: Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety, and provide a positive experience for each child.
  • Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Professionally communicate day-to-day, confidential, and evaluative information with parents/guardians.
  • Maintain a Safe and Clean Environment: Assist in maintaining a developmentally appropriate site, including appearance, décor, and cleanliness.
  • Prepare and Serve Snacks: Prepare and serve snacks, and clean the snack area.
  • Attend Meetings and Trainings: Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
Requirements
  • Age and Experience: 16 years of age or older, 18 or older preferred. 1-2 years of experience working with children, camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
  • Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid Training, and TB Test by Mantoux method.
  • Background Check: Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diverse Populations: Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
  • Language Skills: Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
