Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paramedic to join our Rapid Response Team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Paramedic, you will provide direct patient care under the guidelines and protocols provided by our Medical Director, operating within the scope of practice as defined by the New Mexico Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic life support up to advanced life support, including defibrillation, medication administration, and patient stabilization.
  • Perform patient care, work autonomously to stabilize patients, and guide care until providers arrive.
  • Administer medications, provide nebulized drug administration, and document all patient care activities.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
Requirements
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
  • Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License.
  • PALS certification.
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions

This position requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Working conditions include significant hazards, such as physical risk/injuries due to combative patients, chemicals, and bio-hazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment. May drive on/off UNMH grounds, subject to random alcohol and substance testing.
