Position: Operations Manager

Location: Newark, Ohio

Reporting To: Director of Operations

Shift: Day Shift

Job Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operational functions within the designated production areas. This role involves analyzing productivity through operational metrics, identifying challenges, and establishing performance objectives to meet production targets. The Operations Manager will also manage staffing and the development of team leaders and staff while facilitating positive employee relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Direct daily production activities to meet operational targets and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and evaluate performance metrics and KPIs to identify areas for enhancement and drive process optimization.
  • Assist in formulating strategic plans aligned with plant and corporate objectives.
  • Implement operational strategies aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing productivity.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation through methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of supervisors and production personnel, promoting collaboration and accountability.
  • Support the use of standard operating procedures and tools to ensure consistent operational execution.
  • Provide effective leadership in manufacturing operations, focusing on EHS, employee engagement, and achieving production goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and maintenance, to drive process improvements.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, operations management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Five to seven years of leadership experience in manufacturing, managing complex operations.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities, with a focus on coaching and developing teams.
  • Proven experience in driving operational excellence and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, utility systems, and automation technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems; experience with manufacturing software is desirable.
