Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized medical care to assigned patients, including in-person, electronic, and telephone support.
  • Assist in the delivery of healthcare services to patients of diverse backgrounds and ages, maintaining positive relationships with patients and their families.
  • Work effectively with fellow employees to ensure efficient patient flow and provide support to attending physicians.
  • Communicate with patients via phone to ensure timely and accurate needs are met.
  • Access company data systems to document pertinent medical information.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: Completion of a formal training program, Medical Assistant program.
  • Experience working with confidential information and in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Work Environment

This role requires frequent exertion of 10-20 pounds of force to move objects, occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force, and exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
