Role Summary:

This position for a Residential Substance Use Counselor offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change by supporting clients in a 24/7 residential setting. We seek compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals to enhance our team and positively impact lives. Clients receive on-site services in a dynamic and engaging environment.

The Substance Use Counselor will deliver interventions and therapeutic services for substance use disorders, both individually and in group settings. You will collaborate with a clinical team to evaluate client needs, assist in creating personalized service plans, and advocate for clients while liaising with families and community organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct care for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of adults and their families, tailoring services to meet individual needs. Facilitate substance use therapy groups using agency-approved curricula. Leverage community resources and referrals to enhance treatment outcomes.
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions to address substance use issues, incorporating trauma-informed approaches.
  • Work autonomously and responsibly, contributing to the development, implementation, and assessment of treatment and prevention initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation of all services provided, ensuring clarity regarding client engagement and responses.
  • Guarantee high-quality service delivery, including clinical care and related responsibilities. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic methods whenever feasible. Keep client records current and compliant with agency policies, as well as state and federal regulations. Engage in the agency's Quality Management Program as needed.
  • Actively participate in regular supervision, welcoming constructive feedback in a collaborative and strengths-based manner.
  • Engage positively and constructively with clinical, support, and administrative teams.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in a behavioral health discipline is required; acceptable fields include Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, or a closely related area.
  • Experience in addressing substance use issues and facilitating group therapy is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to meet deadlines accurately are necessary.
  • Knowledge of community resources, trauma-informed care, and the ability to customize treatment plans are required.
  • Fingerprint clearance card or eligibility to obtain one is mandatory.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment.

Additional Expectations:

  • Attend all scheduled administrative, in-service, and staff meetings, and propose enhancements to service delivery.
  • Facilitate communication with other agency departments to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in committees and work groups as requested, providing training and guidance to interns and colleagues in your area of expertise.
  • Adhere to the agency's standards for service delivery.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with state, community, and contracting organizations, as well as collaborative partners.
  • Engage in additional related duties and participate in agency fundraising efforts as requested.
