Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Broward County Public Schools. The successful candidate will possess a Master's degree in Speech Pathology, with Florida state certification in speech-language impaired. This is a critical need position, and we are open to hiring Bachelor level personnel who meet the required qualifications.
The Speech and Language Therapist will be responsible for the following key tasks:
- Conduct standardized screening tests and assessments to identify students with potential speech and language disorders.
- Develop and implement efficient referral procedures to respond to requests for services from teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams and conferences to ensure effective communication and collaboration with colleagues.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to maintain professional skills and stay updated on best practices in the field.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide speech and language therapy services tailored to each student's needs.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is approximately $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Florida state certification in speech-language impaired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual skills (Spanish or Creole).
Significant Contacts
This position involves frequent contact with students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. The Speech and Language Therapist will also collaborate with other district personnel, including administrators, counselors, and support staff.
Physical Requirements
This position requires light work, with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and frequent standing, walking, and sitting. The Speech and Language Therapist will also be required to use a computer and other equipment to perform job duties.
Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, 10-month position, with a salary and benefits package consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. The work year and hours of employment will be established by the School Board.
