Job Summary

As a Surgical ICU Registered Nurse at Carilion Clinic, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care to complex surgical patients. Our 12-bed adult ICU is dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients with a wide range of surgical conditions, including planned and emergent cases.

You will work closely with medical, surgical, and trauma intensivists to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient. Your expertise and critical thinking skills will be essential in providing quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct age-specific admission and ongoing assessments to develop and revise patient care plans
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, patient, and family to develop and implement interdisciplinary care plans
  • Administer treatments and medications accurately and document in electronic medical records
  • Meet essential job functions and successfully complete orientation and competency requirements
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure
  • CPR and ACLS certifications as needed
  • Computer skills for electronic medical record (EPIC) and ability to learn new systems
