Job Summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our Emergency Department team. As a Paramedic, you will play a critical role in providing top-quality care to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Assess urgent medical needs of patients and stabilize their conditions
Provide emergency treatment, including advanced life support, to patients in emergencies
Obtain and record vital signs, perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, and oral, nasal, and ET suctioning
Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, and saline locks
Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes
Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints, size crutches, and teach crutch walking
Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, and transport patients and specimens

Requirements

Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department
Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program

Preferred Qualifications

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
One year of experience as an EMT-P

Physical Requirements

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking
