Our ServicesOur Neurology department provides diagnosis and treatment options for various neurological conditions, including headaches, migraines, epilepsy, stroke, neuromuscular disease, sleep disorders, and more.
We offer a range of services, including electromyography (EMG) testing, nerve conduction studies, and autonomic testing.
The OpportunityWe are seeking a full-time Electromyography Technician (EMG Tech) to join our Neurology team. This role will be based in both Dover and Portsmouth, with the ability to commute to either site.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating EMG equipment, testing the electrical activity of muscles, and assisting physicians in performing advanced EMG techniques.
Responsibilities- Operate EMG equipment to test the electrical activity of muscles and nerves.
- Confer with patients to obtain medical history information and explain procedures.
- Prepare patients for EMG procedures, apply electrodes, and compute and record graphic data.
- Assist physicians in performing advanced EMG techniques and analyze test results.
- Calibrate and clean equipment, prepare patients for examination and treatment, and obtain chief complaints.
- Assist with patient exams, procedures, and collection of specimens as assigned.
- Retrieve laboratory and radiology test results and instruct patients regarding medications and treatment.
- Stock supplies, prepare exam rooms, and instruments for examinations, testing, or minor procedures.
- Demonstrate positive patient-appropriate interpersonal skills and respond to incoming calls as necessary.
- Participate in staff development and educational activities, attend required meetings, and participate in committees as requested.
- Perform autonomic testing, including preparing patients, explaining procedures, and recording observations.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electromyography Technician (EMG Tech) with:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Education through an Accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program or at least 6 months of experience involving training in both practical applications and theory directly related to Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS).
- 1 year of direct patient interaction experience.
- Supervised work experience in an EMG lab as an EMG technician for at least 2 months.
- Certification from the AAMA, NCCT, or RMA, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire date.
- BLS certification.
