Job Title: Veterinarian

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinarian to join our team at the Oregon Zoo. As a Veterinarian, you will play a critical role in the care and well-being of our animals, ensuring their health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement preventative health programs for animals
  • Provide medical care and treatment for sick and injured animals
  • Conduct post-mortem examinations and interpret laboratory results
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure animal welfare and safety
  • Supervise and direct technical staff during medical procedures
Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree in veterinary medicine (DVM) or equivalent
  • Completion of an ACZM-approved post-graduate zoo medicine residency program
  • Valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Oregon
  • Ability to acquire Drug Enforcement Agency registration to prescribe and purchase controlled substances
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Board certification or eligibility to be certified in zoological medicine by the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM)
  • Completion of an internship at an accredited institution or zoo
