The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in power electronics design and leadership roles. The salary for this position is approximately $120,000-$180,000 per year, depending on location and qualifications.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and release engineering of high-power electronics, from 3-30kW. As a Lead Power Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for new design projects, as well as supporting new product introduction engineering for power electronics used in plasma and reactive gas generation applications.

You will work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and making technical decisions with confidence. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing complex systems and presenting findings clearly.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead power electronics related product development projects, collaborating with multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Perform advanced engineering analysis using tools like PSIM, Simulink/MATLAB, SPICE, or Mathcad.
  • Develop, document, and execute DVT plans, reporting results and recommending engineering tradeoffs for optimal performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Create and maintain design reports and other product documentation.
  • Collaborate with embedded control engineers to integrate firmware with power electronics hardware components.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams for new product developments involving power electronics for plasma generation applications.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with a strong background in power electronics design.
  • 10+ years of experience in power electronics design and leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing resonant inverters operating above 400KHz, boost or buck converters, or single/three-phase power factor correction topologies in the 3-30kW range.
  • Familiarity with series and parallel resonant topologies, magnetics component design, and power conversion EMI/EMC filtering design.
  • Expertise in designing, developing, and optimizing firmware for power electronics digital control systems using DSP and MCU platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reliability validation and regulatory compliance testing, including EMC and safety regulations.
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to simplify and present complicated systems.
