Job Summary:

The Associate Vice Chancellor of Graduate Studies and Research serves as the chief administrative and strategic officer for Graduate Studies and Grants & Research, reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. This position requires a leader who can provide administrative, operational, and strategic leadership for Graduate Studies and Grants & Research, building on the positive momentum in graduate programs and grants and research activities and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strategic direction and set priorities for programs.
  • Provide direct supervision of program leadership and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Advise and collaborate with the Provost on critical issues, represent the functional area at meetings and events, and serve on and/or lead various program and/or university committees.
  • Monitor ongoing assessment and continuous improvement of programs and services by guiding the establishment of annual goals, ensuring progress towards goals, articulating challenges, identifying opportunities for improvement, and making recommendations, and reporting on outcomes and achievements for programs and services.
  • Lead special initiatives and/or grant-funded programs with respect to program design, planning, coordination, and interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build consensus and develop collegial, collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, partners with administrative and academic departments to support initiatives, and gathers input from key stakeholders to support recommendations.
  • Exercise supervisory authority, including hiring and managing conduct and performance, of the Offices of Graduate Studies and Grants & Research.
  • Maintain a record of active scholarship, teaching, and/or curricular development.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • At least three years of successful leadership experience, including responsibility for and supervision of personnel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate
  • A tenured appointment as an associate or full professor
  • At least three years of successful higher education administrative experience, including responsibility for personnel and/or budgets
  • Experience in graduate program and/or grants administration
  • Expertise with high impact instructional practices
