Job Title: Front-End WordPress Developer

Georgetown University is seeking a highly skilled Front-End WordPress Developer to join our team. As a key member of our Web Services team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the front-end logic of our University-wide websites and applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain front-end display code for Georgetown websites.
  • Develop and maintain WordPress functionality, including blocks, themes, and post editor customizations.
  • Review code and cross-train with other developers.
  • Provide technical support and documentation.
  • Contribute to development workflow and deployment processes.
  • Train and mentor junior technical contributors and vendors.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Communications, or Design.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in maintenance and design of enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of semantic and accessible HTML, including experience with front-end templating languages.
  • Proficiency in CSS, including responsive and intrinsic design principles.
  • Experience with preprocessors and frameworks like Sass, with strong experience writing JavaScript for interactive website elements.
  • Proficiency in creating accessible and responsive WordPress themes and comfort with git-based development and deployment workflow.
  • Basic comfort with PHP programming language.
  • Accuracy and attention to details, along with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and use effective working relationships within own department and across functional and geographic reporting lines.
  • Self-starter and fast learner with good work ethics.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with front-end JavaScript libraries like ReactJS.
  • Proficiency in working with WordPress APIs, with a strong preference in experience with the Gutenberg API.
  • WP-CLI custom command development experience.
Work Mode Designation:

This position has been designated as Telework. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $66,720.23.

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
