The School Nurse RN will provide healthcare services to students in a school setting, promoting optimal wellness and removing health-related barriers to learning. This role requires leadership and consultation with school staff, as well as coordination of health services programs.
Key Responsibilities- Assess health needs of students through observation, screening programs, and referral procedures
- Provide intervention and care for students with health needs
- Establish and maintain standards of emergency care
- Support school attendance for students with medical needs
- Maintain daily clinic records and prepare reports
- Serve as a resource for the school's child study team
- Provide care for medically-involved and medically-fragile students
- Interpret health status and medical findings to students, families, and school personnel
- Present and train staff on health issues and maintain OSHA standards
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Valid driver's license
- Current CPR certification
- Bachelor's of science in nursing preferred
