Job Summary

A Public Health Nurse with Muskegon County provides comprehensive nursing services in preventive health, home health, and clinic programs. The successful candidate will perform assessments, diagnoses, teaching, counseling, and prevention services to promote health and wellness to clients and residents in the county.

This role requires considerable independent judgment in the performance of job duties, referring only difficult or unusual problems to supervisory personnel for clinical assistance.

During a public health emergency, the Public Health Nurse may be required to report for specialized assigned duties or perform emergency response roles, inside or outside Muskegon County.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose health needs of clients and residents in the county.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to promote health and wellness.
  • Provide education and counseling on health-related topics.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide comprehensive health services.
  • Participate in public health emergency response efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in Public or Community Health or related field.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.

Working Conditions

The Public Health Nurse performs generally sedentary work activities requiring the lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.

Travel to various locations within the County may be required.

This employee will be exposed to blood and bodily fluids.
