Job OverviewPOSITION: Clinical Assessor (LMHP/LMHP-R)
REPORTS TO: Clinical Director

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for conducting initial evaluations, comprehensive assessments, and follow-up evaluations to determine client needs and eligibility for suitable service programs. The Clinical Assessor will provide preliminary diagnoses and recommend appropriate treatment options. Additionally, this position involves determining eligibility and submitting necessary authorizations to relevant insurance providers.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE POSITION:
Impact: The incumbent's work is crucial in assessing client needs and eligibility through the intake and case conceptualization process.

Autonomy: All clinical activities are guided by a detailed treatment plan, program policies, and instructions provided by the clinical supervisor.

Responsibility for Others: No supervisory responsibilities outside of the clinical context.

Interpersonal Interactions: Regular interaction with clients receiving services and ongoing communication with the program and clinical director to provide insights on clinical matters.

Complexity: Effectively engaging with diverse personality types requires sound judgment and discretion.

Communication: The incumbent must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills with the program director and clinical staff to maintain accurate clinical documentation.

Equipment/Facilities Responsibility: N/A

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The role involves office-based interactions with the program director and staff during standard office hours for assessment and case conceptualization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic procedures and treatment planning
- Proficient understanding of assessment tools
- Proven ability to work with individuals and families
- Excellent oral and written communication capabilities
- Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships with clients and staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The Clinical Assessor must hold a valid license (or be in residency) from the Virginia State Board of Counseling or Social Work in one of the following areas: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LSATP. A minimum of two years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and family dynamics is required. The candidate must meet VDBHDS/DMAS criteria to qualify as a LMHP/LMHP-R.

LICENSURE:
- Valid state driver's license
- Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (to be completed within 30 days of employment)
- Certification in Standard First Aid Training (to be completed within 30 days of employment)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct initial assessments and provide diagnoses
Assist qualified mental health professionals in developing and implementing Individual Service Plans.
Review clinical documentation to ensure adherence to all regulatory standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

This position requires the incumbent to consent to background checks, including Central Registry/CPS and criminal history checks. Refusal to provide consent will result in the automatic withdrawal of the application for employment.
