The Role

The General Manager / Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Waverley Country Club is a crucial leadership position focused on delivering exceptional experiences for members across all facets, including golf, dining, and social events.

The COO will lead and collaborate with a diverse team, ensuring that every interaction and service is of the highest standard.

This role requires a visionary approach to strategic planning, facilitating the establishment and execution of an annual strategic planning process essential for guiding the club's business planning and future decision-making.

In this highly visible position, the COO will prioritize consistently exceeding member expectations by providing extraordinary experiences.

This entails maintaining a strong presence throughout the club, supporting the team in operational matters, and being readily accessible to both staff and members.

The COO will also champion Waverley's rich golf heritage and traditions, ensuring they are upheld and celebrated in every aspect of club life.

By cultivating a culture of excellence and tradition, the COO will play a pivotal role in maintaining the club's esteemed reputation and enhancing the overall member experience.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the COO position at Waverley Country Club will possess a minimum of five years of leadership experience as a General Manager / COO or in a comparable role within a high-end hospitality setting, preferably in a private golf or country club recognized for its traditions and exclusivity.

They will exhibit strong operational and financial acumen, with a proven history in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to ensure the club's financial stability.

This candidate will also demonstrate self-awareness, adaptability, and a profound appreciation for the game of golf, enabling them to deliver a world-class golfing experience.

The candidate will guide the organization and staff to achieve strategic objectives set with the Board of Directors, leveraging their industry expertise to optimize operations.

They will enhance the membership experience and develop strategies for member recruitment and retention. Additionally, the candidate will refine membership communication channels and dining offerings to provide diverse, high-quality experiences.
