Job Summary

To provide direct, safe, and ethical patient care appropriate to the age of patients served in the cardiac catheterization lab.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate all imaging equipment, including radiographic and fluoroscopic rooms, C-arm, and other equipment associated with the cardiac cath lab.
  • Complete and properly document all work performed and maintain department equipment ready for use.
  • Assist in all procedures performed in the cath lab, including scrubbing and preparing patients for procedures.
  • Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure all necessary needs of the cardiac cath lab team are met.
  • Assist nursing personnel with transportation and care of patients.
  • Prep and monitor patients during cardiovascular imaging and invasive heart procedures.
  • Assist with the insertion of catheters into the heart.
  • Measure and administer special fluids.
  • Review medical history, position patients, and clean/shave/numb testing sites as appropriate.
  • Interpret, describe, and report test results, recognizing recording errors and artifacts and reacting appropriately.
  • Assist physicians during non-invasive cardiological procedures by monitoring patients' heart rates and alerting physicians to any readings outside normal ranges.
  • Maintain cardiological equipment and supplies with daily cleanings and adjustments.
  • Record supply inventory levels and restock the supply storeroom accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot problems with cardiological equipment and report any malfunctions to superiors.
  • Proven ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of professional medical standards, policies, and procedures as well as federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Proven teamwork mentality and ability to collaborate with co-workers.
  • Excellent bedside manner and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills.
