Cornell University Hospital for Animals is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team in the Companion Animal Hospital Radiation Oncology service. As a Radiation Therapist, you will be part of a team of board-certified veterinary radiation and medical oncologists, residents, students, and licensed veterinary technicians (LVT) who work together to provide the best quality of life possible for our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver therapeutic radiation to dogs and cats in accordance with the prescription and instructions provided by the Radiation Oncologist utilizing a linear accelerator (Varian Edge, CBCT) and record system (Aria Oncology Information System).
- Assist Anesthesia LVT in anesthetic induction/recovery, and monitoring of radiation patient side effects.
- Education of clients regarding treatment, radiation reactions and post treatment care and follow-up.
- Work closely with other hospital services to provide the best comprehensive patient care.
- Shaping the future of veterinary care through practical instruction of diverse veterinary students and house officers (radiation and medical oncology residents).
- Opportunities to stay current in new technology.
- Assist with clinical trials to advance veterinary cancer care.
- Graduate of AMA-approved school in radiation therapy with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- One year experience in clinical therapeutic radiation therapy.
- NYS Licensure and RTT or eligible required by time of appointment.
- Comfortable working with animals - primarily, but not limited to, dogs and cats; previous experience is not required.
- Interest in ongoing career growth and advanced skill development.
