About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Management Specialist to join our team at Good Samaritan Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, caregivers, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Department Director: Work closely with the Department Director to design, develop, implement, and monitor the risk management program, including effective systems that promote and support patient, caregiver, and visitor safety.
  • Ensure Compliance: Collaborate with the Director to ensure the organization adheres to laws, regulations, and accrediting body standards, and implements policies and procedures necessary to support risk structures and processes.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Serve as a subject matter expert on patient safety and risk management policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Recommend Safety Policies: Recommend safety policies, practices, and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, caregivers, and visitors.
  • Event Reporting: Maintain the event reporting system and conduct root cause analysis on all safety events deemed appropriate by the organization.
  • Analysis and Improvement: Analyze event reporting data and collaborate with appropriate personnel to develop and implement plans for improvement.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare visual dashboards and reporting elements based on event reporting entries and safety concerns, and ensure reporting requirements for various hospital committees are met.
  • Documentation and Litigation: Collect and prepare documentation in response to pre-litigation and litigation requests.
  • Leadership and Education: Serve as a team lead or facilitator for committees focused on safety and risk reduction, and engage in leadership duties to include coaching and staff development/education related to patient safety and risk management activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare management, or a related health field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively responsible experience in the healthcare field, with a preference in healthcare risk management, patient safety, quality improvement, or nursing.
  • Certifications: CPHRM or ability to obtain within 3 years, CPPS also preferred.
  • Skills: Microsoft Office, M365 with proficiency in Excel.
