Senior Internal Auditor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Internal Auditor to join our team at Merchants Bank of Indiana. As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our internal audit program and providing assurance to management and the board of directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and report on financial and operational audits in accordance with the internal audit program.
  • Review and assess the adequacy of internal controls, operating efficiency, and recordkeeping practices.
  • Develop recommendations for improving internal controls, operating efficiency, and recordkeeping practices.
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management and the board of directors.
  • Conduct follow-up reviews of financial or operational findings noted during audits.
  • Investigate irregularities discovered by or brought to the auditor's attention.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in related auditing positions.
  • Experience in banking or a financial services industry background is preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office with the ability to manipulate large amounts of data and compile detailed reports.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed as well as maintaining confidentiality required.
  • Must be able to travel to branches and/or the corporate office as needed.
