Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures in the field of Nuclear Medicine in the outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients and record the route of administration, dose, and technologist's initials.
  • Describe the exam to patients, obtain informed consent, and complete necessary paperwork for study input of patient information into radiology management system for record keeping and charge generation.
  • Evaluate requisitions, charts, and lab results, and perform patient assessments to identify patient needs.
  • Handle radiopharmaceuticals, document and dispose of them properly, and follow guidelines set up by Radiation Safety Office and NRC.
  • Select, dose, and quality control review radiopharmaceuticals to ensure each dose is correct for the ordered procedure, correct activity, and properly recorded in the dose records.
  • Set up acquisition and perform according to protocol, maintain patient comfort, care, and safety, and analyze images and evaluate for correctness.
  • Use RIS, CIS, SMS, and PACS to generate proper documentation and complete all RIS orders with the appropriate and accurate charges added.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Work Environment: This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. This is not a State employed position.
