- Assist the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas, ensuring a productive and organized learning environment.
- Assist with the supervision of children during regular play periods, promoting physical activity and socialization.
- Collect and display suitable material for educational displays, enhancing the learning environment and promoting student engagement.
- Assume responsibility for tasks assigned by the Principal or supervisory teacher, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to teamwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating a willingness to adapt and contribute to the success of the school.
- High School Diploma; a passing score on the assistant teacher WorkKeys test.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
The Elementary Assistant Teacher will work in a fast-paced classroom environment, requiring the ability to move freely around the classroom and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff. The position requires frequent standing, walking, and use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls. The employee must also be able to squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward, and continuously use hand strength to grasp items during the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to thirty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
