Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team at Ascension. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality CT scans, working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CT scanners to produce high-quality diagnostic images, using proper positioning techniques and radiation safety practices.
  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, providing instruction and support to minimize anxiety and ensure cooperation.
  • Position patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient comfort and ability.
  • Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examinations, applying principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure.
  • Assume responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
  • Assist radiologists/physicians during interventional CT procedures, using aseptic surgical techniques.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and have knowledge of retrospective reformations, post-processing reformations, and FMPRs.
  • Maintain archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
  • Initiate basic life support actions when necessary.
  • Provide patient education and assist in maintaining patient records, respecting confidentiality and institutional policies.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned area and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Provide practical instruction for students and may be responsible for the control of inventory and purchase of supplies for assigned area.
  • Maintain knowledge of and observe universal precautions.
  • Understand and apply patient relation skills.
  • Perform routine cleaning of all CT equipment.
  • Pursue appropriate continuing education.
  • Positively identify patients using 2-patient identifiers.
Requirements
  • Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 months of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Technician Radiologic Technologist specializing in Computed Tomography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 18 months of hire date or job transfer date required.
Education
  • Requires a graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program with 4-6 weeks training in CT scanning.
Work Experience
  • Requires 1 or more year experience in general Radiology, which includes 6 to 12 months experience working with CT scanners.
