Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Research and Development Associate to join our Product Development team at Golden Platter Foods, Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tasting Preparation and Management:
    • Ensure that all forms are available, completed, and control samples are clearly labeled during tastings.
    • Store control samples in designated areas.
    • Purchase products for Retailer Set Analysis, prepare whiteboards, forms, and take photos prior to product cutting.
    • Prepare products for tastings, including heating and serving samples.
    • Collect all samples after tastings and place them in designated areas.
  • Project Kickoff and Coordination:
    • Organize and ensure that each Product Development project has a formal kickoff meeting.
    • Ensure all conditions of the kickoff meeting are met, including Founder's notes and benchmarks.
    • Utilize the Kickoff Meeting Form to standardize and document the process.
  • Sample Production Management:
    • Manage all sample runs in the plant, including scheduling meetings in advance and ensuring participant attendance.
    • Complete the planning section of the Sample Production Form.
    • Gather all necessary data during plant sample production runs as per instructions.
    • Coordinate with QC and production teams to ensure accurate information gathering.
    • Label samples clearly after production runs and store them in designated areas.
    • Maintain a detailed log of all samples produced.
  • Sample Packing and Shipping:
    • Learn the processes involved in packing and shipping samples.
    • Update the Sample Log when samples are sent to ensure accurate tracking.
  • Kitchen Equipment and Management:
    • Maintain a clean, orderly, and sanitary R&D kitchen at all times.
    • Ensure all surfaces, utensils, and equipment are washed and sanitized regularly.
    • Organize and manage kitchen supplies, refrigerators, and freezers.
    • Learn to operate all equipment in the R&D test kitchen and understand how it replicates production processes in the plant.
  • Product Knowledge and Analysis:
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of coated products, including predust, batter, and breading processes.
    • Learn how these processes affect yields, weight loss, pickup, and coating adhesion.
  • Documentation and Data Management:
    • Document all relevant information during tabletop sample production and large kitchen batches as directed.
    • Perform all necessary prep work, including purchasing ingredients and weighing samples for production.
Qualifications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in an R&D or food production environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation and data management.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is desirable.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move equipment or materials as needed.
  • Standing for extended periods while performing kitchen tasks.
