About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cameo Modeler to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Senior Systems Modeler, you will play a critical role in advancing our digital engineering capabilities and leading the development of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate Digital Engineering Capabilities: Train, mentor, and perform quality checks on junior staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to develop and implement MBSE tools and methodologies.
  • Develop MBSE Capabilities: Identify and deploy methods, processes, and guidelines for developing MBSE as part of the capabilities development process.
  • Participate in Team Efforts: Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop digital engineering products and participate in teams working to advance the capabilities of essential national systems.
  • Communicate Effectively: Deliver presentations to sponsors and working groups to effectively communicate proposed concepts, solutions, and analysis findings.
  • Apply MBSE Principles: Apply MBSE principles to drive requirements development from operational capabilities/needs to describe system performance, resilience, cybersecurity, and other characteristics.
  • Define MBSE Design Review Requirements: Help define MBSE design review requirements and update our current systems engineering process to apply sophisticated MBSE techniques.
Qualifications
  • Education: Possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another related field.
  • Experience: Have at least ten years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Systems Engineering Knowledge: Have a strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
  • MBSE Knowledge: Possess a significant knowledge of systems modeling techniques and methodologies.
  • Tool Proficiency: Can demonstrate proficiency in using MBSE tools and software, such as Cameo Systems Modeler or IBM Engineering Systems Rational Rhapsody.
  • Analytical Skills: Have the ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions, especially in system architecture and integration.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Have excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding oral and written communication skills, and good organizational skills.
  • Leadership Skills: Have the ability to lead, work independently, and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Security Clearance: Are able to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Education: Possess a Master's degree (or higher) in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another related field.
  • Additional Experience: Have at least fifteen years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Platform Experience: Have experience in Air Force and/or Navy platforms and systems in NC3.
  • Software Tools: Possess competence in using software tools for analysis, simulation, and validation, such as MATLAB/Simulink or other domain-specific software.
  • Clearance: Have an active Top Secret Clearance.
