Blood Bank Section Head

Steward Health Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Blood Bank Section Supervisor to join our team. This is a full-time position that offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and maintain policies and procedures for the Blood Bank section.
- Oversee the processing of specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Verify the accuracy of test specimens before testing and perform technical procedures as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate testing, maintaining quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- Supervise laboratory personnel, providing direction, support, and technical guidance.
- Audit personnel performance, ensuring competencies are maintained and completing staff evaluations.
- Schedule personnel to meet staffing requirements and maintain fiscal responsibility within the section.
- Establish quality systems to ensure departmental goals are met and corrective action is taken as needed.
- Collaborate with the Departments of Surgery and Oncology to ensure blood products meet patient needs.
- Assist in preparing reports and statistics for Administration and Nursing regarding the Blood Bank.
- Maintain the Therapeutic Phlebotomy program and ensure department supply billing reconciliation.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or a Life Science.
- MT (ASCP), SBB certification preferred.
