POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Software Security Specialist to become a vital part of our expanding security division. This position is highly technical, requiring candidates to have a comprehensive understanding of the security and privacy aspects of our organization's applications and data.

The Software Security Specialist must be well-versed in development practices, coding standards, security engineering, and secure system configurations. This role is responsible for ensuring that every phase of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) adheres to security best practices. Responsibilities include performing security evaluations using Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) tools, analyzing source code, conducting threat modeling, and establishing secure software development methodologies. The specialist will identify security vulnerabilities and implement necessary remediation measures. A deep understanding of potential application misuse and exploitation is essential. Collaboration with software development teams to provide insights on secure coding practices is also a key aspect of this role. Staying informed about the latest security trends and technologies to enhance the organization's security framework is crucial. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with a solid background in application security and familiarity with programming languages and web technologies. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and relevant certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, or CASE are preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute security evaluations that require in-depth knowledge of our organization's applications using both SAST and DAST methodologies.
  • Work closely with software development teams to embed security within the development lifecycle.
  • Perform security evaluations on web, mobile, and other applications. Analyze results to pinpoint security vulnerabilities and advise on remediation strategies.
  • Design and enforce secure software development practices, including threat modeling, secure coding standards, and code reviews.
  • Keep abreast of security threats, trends, and technologies, and propose new security controls as necessary.
  • Conduct application security investigations and offer recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain security documentation, provide subject matter expertise, and collaborate on security policies, procedures, and standards.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related discipline.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with OWASP, SAST, DAST, SCA, RASP, and common security tools is required.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in application security, security engineering, software development, or a related field is required.
  • Five (5) years of strong understanding of web application security and common attack vectors (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, CSRF) is required.
  • Five (5) years of experience with secure coding practices, threat modeling, and secure SDLC methodologies is required.
  • Five (5) years of proven experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues, along with recommending and implementing strategies to address problems is required.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated experience with systems integration processes, methodologies, and tools is required.
  • Seven (7) years of development and scripting experience is required.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a professional application security role is required.
  • Five (5) years of experience with API and Web Security is required.
  • Three (3) years of experience with WAF or similar application security infrastructure is preferred.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in integrating security in CI/CD and DevOps is required.
  • Six (6) years of experience in process or operation management.
  • Six (6) years of experience in Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow, Pull Replenishment, and other process improvement methodologies.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships across all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
  • Capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Adaptability to operate in a fast-paced environment with a self-driven approach to excellence.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, .NET, Javascript) with a preference for .NET.
  • Proficiency in at least one common scripting language (e.g., PowerShell, bash, etc.).
  • Expertise in NIST framework, PCI, ISO 27001, SOC, SOX, CCPA, GDPR, and global regulations.
  • Expertise in CI/CD with Azure DevOps, Terraform, or other automation and integration technologies.
  • Advanced skills in risk management findings, vulnerability prioritization, threat modeling, and mitigation strategies.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • CISSP, OSCP, CASE, or other industry-recognized certifications are preferred.

Salary is determined based on internal equity, market data, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, and certain degrees or certifications. Employees may also be eligible for an annual bonus, as applicable.
