The Pediatric Care Services Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing pediatric care services at Broward Children's Center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care for children and young residents in our facility, 24 hours a day. This role involves providing clear leadership, setting expectations for the nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with pediatric care standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Pediatric Care Leadership: Develop, maintain, and implement nursing policies and procedures that align with current pediatric nursing practices, facility philosophy, and regulatory standards.
- Staff Management: Supervise and provide guidance to nursing staff, including oversight of night shift employees. Visit night shifts at least twice a week to ensure standards are being upheld and provide support to staff.
- Compliance and Quality Care: Monitor nursing staff to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, focusing on pediatric care standards. Address issues such as patient safety, infection control, and patient outcomes (e.g., pressure ulcers, hygiene, and mobility).
- Resident Admissions: Participate in admission decisions and, when necessary, visit prospective pediatric residents to assess care needs before admission.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., therapy, dietary) to ensure coordinated care, and participate in management meetings to address staff performance, resident concerns, and facility operations.
- Staff Evaluation and Development: Conduct performance evaluations for all nursing personnel, assist in determining compensation, and ensure nursing staff receive proper training, including pediatric-specific in-service education.
- Infection Control and Safety: Establish and oversee the infection control program to prevent the spread of disease and infection in the facility, particularly in vulnerable pediatric populations.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with the administration on budget development, ensuring proper allocation of medical, nursing, and central supplies. Ensure staff properly account for ancillary services used.
- Survey Preparation: Prepare staff for regulatory surveys and inspections, reinforcing standards of pediatric care and addressing deficiencies identified in past surveys.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of pediatric nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role in pediatric healthcare.

The Pediatric Care Services Manager will work in a pediatric medical environment, requiring compassion, patience, and the ability to manage both clinical staff and the unique needs of pediatric residents. Regular visits to night shifts are required to ensure the delivery of quality care 24/7. The noise level is typically moderate, and the role may occasionally require exposure to airborne particles or other typical healthcare-related environments.
Physical Demands:This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
