Key Responsibilities of the Literacy Support Specialist:
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' current performance levels;
  • Deliver targeted instruction tailored to individual student needs;
  • Develop lesson plans and analyze educational data in collaboration with the Lead Teacher and Principal;
  • Manage and maintain instructional equipment used in the learning environment;
  • Support local initiatives aimed at enhancing student performance;
  • Assist teachers in addressing the needs of students who are below grade level;
  • Promote a culture of professionalism among colleagues;
  • Become adept in utilizing instructional technology and software;
  • Support teachers in making data-driven instructional decisions;
  • Help create instructional materials aligned with student needs and EdisonLearning's curriculum;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Internal: School faculty, staff, students, EdisonLearning Support Team
External: School visitors, parents

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field;
  • Valid Teacher Certification;
  • Reading Endorsement or willingness to obtain;
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English;
  • Experience with instructional technology;
  • Background in working with at-risk student populations;
  • Additional educational experiences post-college;
  • Demonstrated teaching experience with diverse student groups.
