GENERAL OVERVIEW:


The Rehabilitation Services Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the internal communication and operational functions of the rehabilitation department, ensuring the seamless coordination of patient care, quality assurance, census enhancement, and the promotion of rehabilitation services within the organization.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with the Director of Rehabilitation to develop and uphold systems that enhance the facility's standing as a premier provider of rehabilitation services for the elderly, showcasing an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
This encompasses oversight of the following departmental functions:

  • Ensuring adherence to the facility's policies, procedures, clinical standards, and protocols.
  • Maintaining compliance with documentation standards and regulatory mandates, including the execution of monthly documentation reviews.
  • Implementing new patient programs in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Conducting in-service training as necessary.
  • Engaging in regular communication with the facility administrator and regional support to assess needs for visits and assistance, optimizing scheduling for effectiveness.
  • Facilitating timely evaluations and treatments for patients in an efficient manner.
  • Collaborating with nursing staff to fulfill OBRA requirements.
  • Ensuring high-quality data entry and clinical documentation.
  • Overseeing the utilization of computerized systems to enhance data integrity and therapist productivity.
  • Managing the Medicare Medical Review and Denials Management process in partnership with regional support and therapy personnel.
  • Monitoring the financial performance of the rehabilitation department and proactively seeking strategies to enhance this performance while upholding the standards of the organization.
This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the following departmental operations:

  • Achieving and sustaining revenue, productivity, and gross profit margin objectives.
  • Assisting in the formulation of the annual budget alongside the administrator and Director of Rehabilitation.
  • Ensuring effective and appropriate staff utilization.
  • Managing key operational and financial metrics to meet budget expectations, including the development and execution of necessary action plans.
  • Completing mid-month and end-of-month billing processes accurately and promptly.
  • Contributing to census development and marketing initiatives in collaboration with the facility.
This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the following departmental operations:

  • Achieving the facility's census and payer mix by coordinating marketing strategies with the facility, effectively managing relationships with hospital therapists, physicians, key hospital personnel, managed care providers, rehabilitation suppliers, and other essential referral sources.
  • Supporting the professional growth of oneself and the rehabilitation/therapy staff within the facility.
This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the following departmental operations:

  • Maintaining current professional licensure and status.
  • Adhering to professional conduct standards and clinical ethical practices.
  • Conducting and communicating employee performance evaluations after 90 days for new hires and annually thereafter.
  • Providing orientation for new employees and ongoing development programs for staff.
  • Creating and implementing in-service orientation schedules.
  • Staying informed on clinical expertise through seminars, professional literature, and peer interactions.
  • Meeting continuing education requirements set by regulatory bodies.
  • Contributing to the facility's reputation as a leading provider of rehabilitation services for the elderly through professional engagement.
This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the following departmental operations:

  • Consistently embodying the core values of the organization through interactions with colleagues, patients, and families, as well as all individuals involved in patient care.
  • Upholding professional standards as outlined in the facility's Employee Handbook and communicated by management.
  • Fostering a positive work environment by sharing information, employing problem-solving techniques, and being receptive to new ideas and constructive feedback.
  • Maintaining effective communication within the facility with the director of nursing, nurse managers, and admissions coordinator to aid in the development of the rehabilitation program. Establishing and nurturing a strong rapport with the facility administrator and medical director.
  • Exhibiting exceptional customer service through courtesy, consistent follow-up, and positive communication.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the following departmental operations:

  • Identifying and rectifying safety hazards or notifying the facility for immediate remediation.
  • Maintaining workspaces in a safe and organized manner.
  • Ensuring equipment is in safe working order by scheduling annual calibrations and updating maintenance logs and cleaning records.
  • Educating staff on proper body mechanics during patient treatments and support activities.
  • Ensuring rehabilitation staff adhere to universal safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety equipment.
  • Reporting any work-related injuries to the Administrator and Human Resources Department, following established treatment protocols.
  • Providing patient care as necessary, adhering to the position description for the relevant clinical discipline in which licensure or certification is held.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the rehabilitation community.
  • Proven leadership and management capabilities.
  • Skills relevant to the clinical discipline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and positively with all rehabilitation and facility staff.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a current license in the state of practice as required.
  • Other educational backgrounds and experiences may be considered.

Physical Requirements:

For Direct Patient Care:

  • If providing patient care, and as appropriate based on therapy licensure, must be capable of lifting and transferring patients to and from various surfaces a minimum of 10 times daily.
  • If providing patient care, and as appropriate based on therapy licensure, must be able to lift approximately 50-70 pounds a minimum of 10 times daily.
  • Current CPR Certification, if required.

For Support Activities:

  • Must be physically able to travel at least 5% of the time.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively over the phone.
Compensation: 75k-85k (based on experience)
