The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Inspector to join our team in the Division of Finance and Administration. As a key member of our Environmental Health and Safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our campus community.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct fire safety field inspections and reviews of construction plans and material submittals to ensure code compliance.
- Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice to stakeholders.
- Assist with fire prevention projects and events as assigned.
- Collaborate with other EH&S programs and departments to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Knowledge of fire hazards inherent in research and industrial processes.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of specific EH&S fields, including related laws and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications, fire protection shop drawings, and hydraulic calculations.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage projects within time and budget constraints.
- Experience with fire protection systems design and installation requirements.
- Professional certification in a relevant field.
This position requires the ability to work outside of regular scheduled shifts, wear personal protective equipment, and comply with UC vaccine policy.
What We OfferThe University of California, Irvine offers a competitive salary range of $77,000 - 108,000 annually, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance, sick and vacation time, retirement savings plans, and access to discounts and perks.
