Job Title: Consumer Lending Loan Coach

At ELGA Credit Union, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consumer Lending Loan Coach to join our team. As a key member of our lending department, you will play a crucial role in guiding and mentoring loan officers to improve their skills, knowledge, and performance in handling consumer loans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of loan officers, providing feedback and setting goals to improve their loan origination metrics.
  • Provide guidance and support to loan officers in navigating loan situations, developing and delivering training programs, and completing performance reviews.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where loan officers can share ideas, challenges, and successes, and assist in developing strategies to increase loan sales while maintaining high levels of member satisfaction.
  • Ensure that loan officers adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies when originating loans, and handle all credit insurance licensing for existing and new loan officers.
Performance Measurements:
  • To take full responsibility for your own success with no excuses.
  • To provide accurate, courteous, friendly, timely, and professional service to all members, potential members, and associates.
  • To support and coach lenders on credit insurance products and putting together a loan package in the best financial interest of the member and credit union.
  • To coach lenders to achieve 100% of daily/weekly/monthly and annual sales goals.
  • To evaluate lenders' completion of doing an in-depth interview and put together comprehensive and high-quality loan files that include accurate and detailed information and notes that assist the underwriter in making sound and timely loan decisions.
  • To coach and develop a cohesive, motivated, highly trained, and professional lending team to exceed goals as well as the expectations of members and achieve operational excellence.
  • To keep management informed of key operating issues, including but not limited to member and employee issues, errors, and facility needs, as well as assist the department manager with the day-to-day duties pertaining to the management of the associates and lending process.
  • To continually update knowledge of credit union products, compliance, sales skills, and self-improvement by completing BVS, fully participating in individual and group training offered by credit union trainers, reading business-related/self-improvement books, and taking outside courses.
  • To maintain a professional work environment by keeping your workspace neat and clean, not accepting any cell phone calls while working, and being conscientious of body language at all times. Have a business-like appearance by wearing ELGA career apparel, suits, or other approved apparel.
Requirements:
  • A background in Consumer Lending with a background of mentoring/coaching.
  • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
  • A master of consumer lending process and procedures with minimal errors.
