Job Title: Cold Heading Design Engineer III

At SIG SAUER, we are seeking a highly skilled Cold Heading Design Engineer III to join our R&D Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing new product concepts with a focus on cold headed manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new product concepts for cold headed manufacturing
  • Support new product design and cold heading progression/tooling design
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition projects from development to production
  • Provide technical support for military, law enforcement, and international proposals
  • Construct design models in 3D CAD and analyze part progressions using simulation software
  • Coordinate prototype build, test, and ballistic evaluation
  • Identify Quality Assurance requirements and support Sales and Agency Customers
Requirements:
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
  • 5 years minimum experience designing tooling and progression layouts for cold heading equipment
  • 5 years of related design experience with small or medium caliber ammunition/ordnance
  • 3 years minimum experience with defense contracts and product development
  • Passion for ammunition reloading, shooting, and/or hunting
  • Microsoft Office and 3D CAD modeling experience required; SolidWorks preferred
  • Familiarity with GD&T symbology and standard inspection methods
Working Conditions:
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas
