Cashier Job Description

Mead Lumber is seeking a driven individual to join our team as a Cashier. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Greet customers as they enter the store, thank each customer as they exit, and provide a positive shopping experience.
  • Transaction Processing: Accurately and efficiently ring on registers, process cash, credit card, and charge transactions, and issue proper receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Checkout Area Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including counting cash drawers at opening and close every day.
  • Support Store Management and Team Associates: Assist store management and team associates with various tasks and responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
  • Previous Cashier Experience: Previous cashier experience preferred but will train the right candidate.
  • Retail Computer Systems and Electronic Cash Register: Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash register, preferred.
  • Basic Computer, Math, and Technical Skills: Basic computer, math, and technical skills required.
  • Handling Money: Proficient with handling money.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Positive Attitude: Positive attitude, punctual, good communication skills, outstanding customer service skills, team player, and reliable.
