About the Role

Sterling Engineering Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join their team in Sugar Hill, GA.

Job Overview

This is a direct hire opportunity with a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop control panels that meet UL508A / CSA 22.2 standards and NEC codes.
  • Program PLCs, Smart Relays, HMIs, and VFDs using Siemens, Allen Bradley, and Mitsubishi platforms.
  • Select components such as sensors, motor controls, HMIs, circuit protection, controllers, and enclosures according to specifications.
  • Read project plans, create submittals, and identify exceptions to ensure timely completion.
  • Develop and maintain As-Built drawings, documenting changes and updates.
  • Utilize EPLAN Electric P8 for creating 2D/3D electrical schematics, panel layouts, and BOMs.
  • Review and report costs to assist project managers with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Address project changes and supplier issues to maintain project timelines.
  • Facilitate discussions on quality issues and schedule forecasts to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Quote projects, including engineering time and material specifications.
  • Obtain certifications for Siemens PLC and ABB VFD systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial controls and electrical systems engineering.
  • Proficiency in Siemens, Allen Bradley, and Mitsubishi PLCs, as well as HMI/PLC programming (ladder logic).
  • Knowledge of component selection, NEMA ratings, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with NEC and UL codes for electrical panels.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, Modbus 485).
