Job Summary

The University of Maryland, College Park, is seeking a highly skilled Specialty Research Network Administrator to join our team at the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT) Laboratory. As a key member of our research team, you will work on designing and implementing innovative network topologies and architectures to support our research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement network topologies and architectures to support research initiatives
  • Develop networking and data security plans to meet research grant requirements
  • Operate and maintain existing networks across multiple data centers and development environments
  • Install, configure, and manage network devices, including servers, switches, and firewalls
  • Provide network troubleshooting and technical support to the research team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting large-scale development and/or production environments
  • Experience with network technologies, including Cisco firewalls and switches
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Linux (RHEL or CentOS)
  • CCNA or CCNP certification
  • Knowledge of network management systems and SNMP protocol

  • Competitive salary range: $85,000 - $130,000
